Lafayette is a name best known as the one for the department store of all department stores: the Parisian Lafayette. Lafayette is promise: noble products, elegance, luxury, consumption. Lafayette is also the name of a park that was designed and built in the 1950s by Mies van der Rohe in Detroit. Beginning of the 2010s, Detroit could have been hardly be further away from this very promise, and part of the city is increasingly being returned to nature.
